I was pretty distraught that the crocodile from the otter pool had been removed as it was a fond childhood memory. I was therefore very happy to find it here :D
 
I actually like the concept of this prop, just needed a little better execution.
 
But why is it here? Is it to make us aware of the terrible danger of bird strikes to Australian aircraft?
 
Nope, because it makes the exhibit more interesting for kids. This whole area is very child friendly, what with the theming, lorikeet feeding and the massive splash pool outside.
 
I know I would have lol. They also love the crashed jeep and other debris :p
 
Lorikeets come from islands in the South Pacific, many of which are littered with WWII debris. I think from that angle it could be an interesting element.
