Do you also turn your head and just glance at a silver back? I find myself doing just that when viewing gorilla and turning my body to the side and just taking glances at them if they are close to the viewing area.
indeed i do Taun friend , i always try to show my respect to such magnificent and complex animals as Gorillas and strangely i think they often notice it. Gorillas are very chivalrous and dignified creatures , John Aspinall likened the Gorilla to the concept of the noble savage. However i would go so far to say as Gorrillas have nothing savage to their mentality. If only humans were more like the gentle gorrilla and less like our intelligent but sinister cousin Pan troglodytes.
I meant no disrespect. I said 'old' to differentiate from the current 'young' Mr Aspinall, that's all. Sorry if you found that offensive, it wasn't meant that way. I've altered the reference.
Pertinax, thats fine soz i jumped on my high horse, just i have respect for the Late Mr Aspinall, and still come across a lot of people who have not a good word 2 say about him and the way the parks were operated,i have always said how many people with the amount on money he ploughed in would of done the same,i would guess very very few.

very likely very few human beings would spend such phenomenal amounts of money on species which coinhabit this planet with us. I think it is characteristic of most human beings to spend their money on their own selfish and self interested ideals and desires. Thats why i have such a deep respect for John Aspinall although he was a very outspoken misanthrope and his political idealogy is the complete opposite to my leftist views i would have congratulated him immensely on what he has done for animals. People like John Aspinall were valient and courageous defenders of magnificent species without the power of speech or rationality to defend themselves. It actually offends me also when the Aspinalls are the target of such ignorant comments spoken in others forums by mostly North american zoochatters. But i think Pertinax didnt intend to offend its obvious that he has respect for the parks.
My thoughts exactly Jose. I take not all humans, but humans as a species as being brilliant, and I support the Liberal Democrats here in the UK, yet Aspinall is still one of my heroes in the field of animals, zoos and conservation. Few can create parks with every drop given to it's inhabitants and have conservation programmes that have released animals like Gorillas and Rhinos successfully back into the wild.

very true Zanbar friend, by the way the liberal democrats seem a good party to vote for , a middle ground idealogically between socialism and conservatism. I have one of Aspinalls books he wrote i bought it from amazon its called my best friends. I was just reading a little bit about the honey badgers and he mentions that he used to take one of them for walks on a leash with his tiger Zara in the early days. However he had to stop the walks once the badger had attacked the tiger savagely and his hand which he had put between them in order to stop the aggression was badly bitten. Very surreal no? but Aspinall was certainly a very excentric english gentleman , and i mean no disrespect when i say that because i. I do find it slightly funny though imagining Aspinall walking a fully grown tiger and a ratel like others walk their dogs, i geuss its just how surreal he must have appeared.
Im not suprised about the cowardly tiger , honey badgers are tenacious ,tough and aggressive beasts ,ive heard their tactic for deterring the interest of predators such as leopards and lions is to tear at their genitals with their teeth and claws, they always reminded me of the Nicaraguan welter weight boxer Ricardo Mayorga , squat ,viscious dirty fighters of the animal kingdom. Friend have you seen the videos on youtube of the honey badger killing a cobra ? it is incredibly how fearless these fellows are , mind you africa the dark continent is a place where an animal must be incredible tough and versatile to survive the rigours of existance
