I think potentially it could be a good exhibit. Being brand new it looks extremely bare and they may address that in time if they were in a hurry to open it.(the usual story). If they want to replicate 'dry thorn forest' they need to plant some Acacias, Eucalypts etc which grow fast and maybe some large boulders(Gir Forest is quite rocky), plus bamboo clumps etc.
Among the UK zoos keeping Asian Lions, Bristol Zoo's enclosure, although not huge, stands out because it was planted for a 'jungle' effect and the planting has now matured to give a very effective exhibit. They are on woodchip flooring.
If they don't do any of that here they shouldn't say its 'replicating the Gir' because it definately isn't as it is.
