Exactly- he was referring to the horn growth etc due to rich feeding from grass paddocks, not the quality of enclosure housing. Though nearly all Scimitar -horned Oryx herds in UK live on grass at least some of the year, so not sure why he singled out Marwell. Of course some horn deformaties are also due to accidental damage etc and its not always easy to differentiate. Fat non-pregnant Onagers is a different matter though.;)

Thank you both-that's excatly what I meant. I singled out Marwell, because it is the only place within the UK I know personally.

Onagers and other equids normally do not have horns, unfortunately, unicorns are extinct, since Noah has kept the last pair togehther with big cats on his ark:

By the wy, this onager seems to be extremly fat-I wouldn't wonder if they also feed power food(Pellets ?)do them. Good Hay, some branches for the tooth care and from time to time carrots and in summer times a handful grass-thats all equids in zoos need for food-and never keep them year round in grass paddocks, this guides also to overgrown hooves.

1. I havn't named any oryx paddock in my post above"awul". But as you could read in my post above, I said it isn't good to keep desert or dry habitat species on grass floor.
2. How can you know if or I 've seen more worse oryx paddocks, and, more worse than what ?
3.Sorry, but I'm not exagerte slightly, see points one and two;)

I apologise for taking your comments the wrong way, I didn't realise you were talking general appearance but thought you meant the animals were neglected... My bad! :)

And since you've done an extensive zoo tour of Japan and have bashed various other hoofstock paddocks then I assume you have seen much worse examples than Marwell! ;)

No Problem.

And the second-you can bet on it-but If I find my pictures of arbian oryx at Phoenix and The living Desert, so you can compare them with the Marwell ones, you will think they are two diffrent species.:)
