@Kakapo I suspected that might be what you would say :p the reason I ask is that if you choose to lump Diopsittaca, Primiolus and Orthopsittaca into Ara, you would have to also include Cyanopsitta and all the conure genera - Diopsitta is basal to all of these, and the second most basal of the Arinae after Anodorhynchus. As such, I thought it was just about possible you knew this and recognised Ara, Anodorhynchus and Diopsitta.

(Incidentally, even if you avoid the conure problem by retaining Diopsitta, you can only retain Cyanopsitta by also retaining Orthopsittaca, as these group as sister species)

I hadn't actually registered it until now in the excitement of seeing that species in particular, but the Spix's at Pairi Daiza meant I also completed my macaw set this year. Nice.

@TeaLovingDave : realy ? thought it was such a commonly kept and bred species but by checking ZTL I learned that "only"15 European collections currently are keeping it !
I had my first Yellow-collared macaw when I was 15 privatly and later took care for it at the several public collections in which I worked. Also have seen it in a good number of other public parks and in privat collections.
