Zürich had a breeding group of this extremely rare species in the 1980's. They can not be found in any zoo today.
This picture was taken by Steve Romo. He gave me permission to post some of his remarkable photos here on ZooChat.
I was reading through the International Zoo Yearbooks and found out that Catskill Game Farm had Pygmy hogs in 1988, does anybody know more about this ?
I also find that data suspicious, it did say that "Pygmy hogs" came from Bronx Zoo, and because that was mentioned, I have more of a belief that they could have been actual Pygmy hogs, and I dont see a place like Catskill Game Farm going out if their way to get Domestic pot belly pigs from Bronx Zoo

they did have a lot of domestics (especially "unusual" ones) at Catskill, including pot-bellied pigs, and they went out of their way to import pigmy goats from Europe so I don't think it would be out of character for them. Also I suspect pot-bellied pigs at that time were not the commonplace item they are now.
If anyone has information to show that the Bronx and Catskill did have pigmy hogs in the 1980s then I'm happy to be proved wrong, but it does not seem likely at all.
