Raccoon Dog Enclosure - 16/10/2011

The entire Raccoon Dog enclosure at Ponderosa Rare Breeds Farm, 16/10/2011.
I've seen two Raccoon Dog exhibits in the flesh (that I can remember at least, I could have seen others when I was very young I suppose), if this were added to that "list" it would be in second place in order of merit. Actually I suppose I've seen two exhibits at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park as the Raccoon Dogs had been moved this year - three collections then.

How does a place like this get ahold of animals like raccoon dogs, tapir, and meerkats? Are there a lot of surplus animals of these species floating around Europe that anybody can buy and put on display?

@Mr. Weasel: I LOVE your avatar. Did you make it with Photoshop?

The species you mention are kept privately in the uk and raccoon dogs are quite common privately, there are even leucistic raccoon dogs here.
