Howletts and Lympne are charities and they've always lost money according to an interview I read with Damian Aspinall. God, I make one observation and I get interrogated by someone who doesn't even know how gift aid works!
I know it's a bloody charity! I'm saying that he wouldn't have made enough money in three/four years to do what he's done. Let's face it, it's a tiny zoo in the back of beyond with Howletts as a near by competitor. He might have, but I'm saying he's probably paying for a lot of it himself as he stated it costs over £100,000 yearly to feed the animals alone. Do you think they get that many visitors?
HOw the HELL would you know how much money has gone through the zoo in the last 4 years? How much fund raising have they done? You don't know, AGAIN you are speculating about something you have NO idea about!!! A charity is a business - I don't pay for stuff for MY business out of my personal back account!!

So you're telling me Howletts and Lympne haven't done ANYTHING with their enclosures in the last 50 years (in Howletts case) because they haven't made money!? The money gets SPENT ON looking after the animals including the enclosures.
Excuuuse me for not knowing the ins and outs of Gift Aid ... how rude of me!!!

Jeez calm down, this is getting heated for no reason. A charity isn't a business, business are designed to make money, charities aren't. My observation was simply based on the amount of rockwork, rendering, the import of 2 sun bears, gibbons, otters and an aardwolf, and just aesthetic stuff. Shaldon zoo is a very similar size, but they could NEVER afford to do things like that and they've been there for years and are in a better location. All I was saying was that I highly doubt they could afford to do all that without Todd putting some of his own money into the project, purely because it's a relatively new small zoo.
You need to calm down, Ashley-H made a comment on a observation no one else seemed to pick up on. I think it’s quite obvious that he has pumped money into the park.

Tell you what - I'll 'calm down' when you stop speculating about the RSCC, accounts, sources of animals, ethics, husbandry, management and whatever else is on here!
Don't you realise you are potentially damaging a charity?
