This was intended to give the bears more exercise and enrichment, both the climbing and the rotation between holding day room, small indoor exhibit, and large outdoor exhibit.

So far the zoo has only had cubs and young bears. Whether the plan has faults will be apparent when they have aged animals I think.

Their oldest polar bear, Arki, just turned 28 last month.

How long have they had her for? I am pretty sure she used to be at Brookfield.

She's been there for about 1.5 years now. She came from Brookfield Zoo.

She arrived like a year ago and she was a orphaned. I think she was at the Alaska zoo for a little bit before she arrived at Louisville zoo.

You are thinking of Qannick Jusko88. Arki is a completely different bear who has had 5 litters before.

That's the cub, Qannik, not the oldest female in Louisville's collection.

Fun Fact: there's another polar bear there who just turned 3 today siku. Arki is siku grandma. arki son Marty is living in toledo and that's siku father.
