Orycteropus

Serval enclosure, Lion Terraces

Prior to the servals, this exhibit held the lynx, and before then the Caracal that I think was/is used in the shows was housed here. It may have held red panda at one point but I'm pretty sure they were in the current monkey cage closest to the blackburn pavilion.

For the majority of the 1970s and 80s, this enclosure held Puma, which bred. The jaguars were located in the adjacent cage, which now holds spider monkeys.

The amur leopards were held originally in the tall cage at the back of the lion exhibit, later this became an extension to the lion area and the amur leopard moved left to where the clouded leopard was once held, but the zoo soon stopped keeping leopards of any description just before the monkey species were located to the three enclosures on the cat terraces they currently occupy. The original leopard cage most recently held the red river hogs, Im not aware as to whether they are still there.
