Just - what? Trying to excuse a pretty ugly exhibit?


The number of reasons I can\'t believe they\'ve put this up grows every time I read it. They seem to be having a go both at other zoos and at their own other exhibits - the new leopard exhibit is Ussuri Falls. Incomprehensible.

Not to mention the fact it is now well-established that geladas are NOT baboons, but a genus unto themselves.

As well as being quite weird and bizarre. I find it actually quite sweet and endearing...laughable but sweet and endearing none the less.

There appear to be three, ghostly apes in this exhibit. No sign of any gelada though.

Agree, I thought this was going to be one of those mirrors with a "most dangerous animal in the world" sign on it, judging by the reflections

Yes - sorry about the ghostly apparitions - I tried one with flash to try to get rid of them but the bounce-back obscured the bizarre message.

Hmmmm ... I've never noticed this before .... but then the geladas are usually outside not inside. It does seem to be something of an own goal. Mind you .... they also have posters saying "Monkey around this summer" (or something like that) illustrated with Tumba the chimp, despite usually going to great pains to tell visitors that chimps aren't monkeys.
