@FelipeDBKO Hmmmm, well São Paulo zoo has / has maned wolf, crab eating fox and bushdog too. But I don't think it is very common for zoos here to keep native canids, I mean how many keep the short eared dog for example ?
I would be surprised to hear about any facility holding the cryptic short-eared dog currently. But I was just taking a look at Brasilia Zoo's website, it seems quite organized and lists this trio + the hoary fox!
Maned wolf: 2 (male), 4 (female), 0 (N/A);
Bush dog: 1, 0, 0;
Crab-eating fox: 2, 2, 0;
Hoary fox: 2, 1, 0.
If the site is updated (the pages were updated between February and April this year), I believe we have a winner.
@FelipeDBKO When I went to Brasilia zoo I actually saw the exhibits of all these guys, but not all of them were visible... I could see the maned wolf, bush dog and either the hoary or the crab eating fox. Not sure wich of these two I've seen, gonna search on my pictures archive
@David Matos Mendes I think it is difficult with any armadillo species in either the wild or captivity and the giant armadillo I would imagine will spend most of its time hidden away. If you did see her then you were exceptionally lucky.
@Onychorhynchus coronatus Unfortunately, I haven't seen any armadillos in there, I was in doubt about wich fox I saw, if it was the hoary or the crab eating, cause I know there is one of these that I couldn't see
Whilst on the smaller side, the newer exhibits seem to be of good quality. It seems that the zoo is gradually renovating or re-building its older exhibits?
