Spotted hyena family

Crocuta crocuta

Left-to right: Kalabi (mother), Jasiri (second cub), unnamed cub and Nafari (first cub). The adult male (Abu) was elsewhere.

The space under the pool (where Kalabi is investigating) contained both the young cub and a wasp nest.
I wonder why no UK safari park has tried this species in a drive-through. Surely they would be visually and behaviourally exciting enough?

I'm sure they would be at feeding time- provided they were hungry enough.;)
But I think they are largely nocturnal in the wild and would presumably dig burrows and be largely invisible a lot of the rest of the time?

The ones at Colchester seem to spend most of their day sleeping and only become active around feeding time, although personally I also find that to also be the case with both wolves and African hunting dogs which seem much more ubiquitous in safari parks.
