Generally I approve of zoos celebrating their history with statues commemorating famous former inhabitants .....but I was rather disappointed when I saw this for the first time yesterday......
I wondered if this photo was the inspiration for the other 'Winnie' statue?

An update on the current whereabouts of statues of “Winnie”:-

By the way does anyone know what happened to the bronze statue of the original Winnie the Pooh. It disappeared from the back corner of the reptile house some time ago. Has it been put somewhere else?

This statue, that used to be by the Reptile House, is now in the Children’s Zoo.

Winnie is in the Children's Zoo, near the Aardvarks if I recall correctly. :)EDIT: Yep, here she is: http://www.zoochat.com/43/winnie-bear-statue-london-16-11-a-253919/

This statue, that used to be in the Children’s Zoo, is now between the Butterfly House and the Three Island Pond, not far from the War Memorial.
