Chlidonias 12 May 2010 black-tailed native hen was actually my first thought but the feathering is too pale, I can't see any white flank spots and the legs are way too pale too different in colour to be a purple swamphen unless its a wierd angle or light I can't turn it into a chestnut rail at all (and I doubt they'd have them loose in an open walk-through) I didn't think of dusky moorhen but it could well be a juvenile, which are much browner than the adults (but I can't see any white on the undertail) Tasmanian native hen looks good but I'm uncomfortable with it because I don't know if there are any in collections outside Tasmania... summing up, I have no idea

Electus Parrot 13 May 2010 I have once seen an orange-footed scrubfowl that looked very similar but I highly doubt this, thought I would throw it in.
