I just saw the episode "A Tree Grows In Springfield" and I'm afraid the zoo seems to be under new management. I recall an episode where for some reason all the animals of the zoo were released and Homer knew how to round op all the animals. He stood in front of a charging Rhino and yelled "JUMANGI"!!!
Of course it did not work.

that was the season 10 episode called "Marge Simpson in: "Screaming Yellow Honkers"". It was actually the Springfield Wild Animal Kingdom from which the rhinos were escaping. Youtube video below.

from the season 18 episode "Little Big Girl": the Ultimate Fighting Zoo (where a gorilla was fighting a lion) is in North Haverbrook. There's no clip on youtube, but of course North Haverbrook was best known for its monorail....
