  1. Cape Buffalo

    Cape Buffalo

One of Africa’s strongest and dominant herbivores, often seen in herds of hundreds of thousands that graze upon the grass besides being the main prey for the lions that feast on them.
  2. African Lion

    African Lion

Arguably Africa’s most iconic big cat, with males known for their gorgeous manes, as they’re the kings of the savannahs and plains that they inhabit.
  3. Gaur

    Gaur

One of the largest and most powerful wild cattle found in Asia. Timid and shy despite their great size and power, the gaur is powerful enough to charge through the jungle at a surprising speed, and overpowers the tiger which is the natural predator of the gaur.
  4. White Rhinoceros

    White Rhinoceros

One of the largest of the five living rhino species found in Africa, and are a popular icon for ecotourists because of their large size and territorial nature. Had to give this rhino a sandstone feel to it as rhinos often like to bathe in mud to cool off from the heat.
  5. Andean Condor

    Andean Condor

Condors are arguably my favorite birds of prey, and the Andean Condor is no exception because they’re the national symbol of Peru, which is the country of origin of where I’m from.
  6. Okapi

    Okapi

Best known as the only living relative to the giraffe, these animals are found in the Ituri Forest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to which it blends in perfectly with the brown and white stripes of it’s rump in the African rainforest.
  7. Hippopotamus

    Hippopotamus

One of the world’s most dangerous animals due to their aggressive and unpredictable nature, these semi aquatic mammals are in fact, one of my favorite animals because of their stocky, barrel-shaped torsos, their wide opening mouth, and the way they walk on the riverbed.
  8. Arabian panther head

  9. Crowthorne

    The Faunal Frontier

Hunting around the internet doing some research on Malagasy carnivores, I stumbled upon this website of rather lovely illustrations (am thinking they're vector, but could be wrong) of a large number of mammal species. The illustrations cover the carnivores, but more recent uploads have been...
