An early morning at the Wolf enclosure at the Assiniboine zoo. This was taken December 10th, 2021. I had the shot lined up... and then the leg lifted. Interesting note about the wolves at the zoo- they are retired hollywood actors!
One of the burrowing owls at the Assiniboine zoo! Taken October 16th. This individual likes to spend the mornings before visitors arrive staring out the open door to the burrowing owl building. If you are slow and clam, It'll let you get pretty close.
The two bactrian camels at the Assiniboine zoo. I was lucky enough to feed them some lettuce. Quite the personalities. This was taken October 16th, 2021.
One of the bears at the Assiniboine zoo. This was taken October 16th, during a behind the scenes tour, at seal beach. This also shows one of the water vessels common in outdoor exhibits here at the zoo. It is warmed in the winter so it never freezes.
One of the harbor seals, at Assiniboine zoo! This was taken during a behind the scenes tour on October 16th, 2021. This is a rare view- Seal beach is the only area where they surface, and is not accessible to the public. All the seals at Assiniboine are rescues from Vancouver, and are all male.
A polar bear at the Assiniboine Zoo, taken October 16th, 2021. This was during a behind the scenes tour, where we were shown around the Journey to Churchill building. This was taken through a window in a room with quarantine ponds.
One of two Stella's sea eagles at the Assiniboine Zoo, taken October 3rd, 2021. It is always a delight to watch them, their massive size is astounding.
