Hello, everyone. Has anyone here been to any Brazilian zoo before 2005? If so, could you please post your pictures here? I'm mostly looking for old photos from Rio, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Sapucaia do Sul. Thanks in advance!
Hello, everyone! How is it going? It has been a while, hasn't it? Well, if I recall correctly, there was a database for giraffes in Brazil on Zoo Chat, but it is long gone (I did check through our threads and could not find any regarding this). So, I have decided to recreate it, now with some...
This is a re-remake of a zoo I first drew in 2005 and then remade in 2019. It was one of my first ever maps, so I wanted to update and enrich it. The links to the other versions and species list of this Brazilian zoo will be in the comments!

Here, we'll discuss about the animal species kept at the Rio de Janeiro zoo (now called Bioparque do Rio). I'll divide the animals by their respective areas, and exhibits, as well as their taxonomical classes. Planned and off-show species will also be added, just like free-roaming and wild...
This is the cerrado biome exhibit at Belo Horizonte zoo. It houses a couple of gray brocket deers, a couple of greater rheas, two giant anteaters, and a few tapirs. The place is a little larger than an acre (near 5.000 m2/53.819ft2), has five pools (two big ones and three smaller ones).
Baby caiman rescued from the traffic. He's living in the old caiman pond with amazon turtles (Podocnemis expansa) and some Geoffroy's side-necked turtles (Phrynops geoffroanus). Hope he will be soon joining the zoo's caiman group in the main exhibit.
This is the marsh deer exhibit at BH zoo. A male has been living there for a few years, and a female arrived a few weeks ago, but I couldn't spot her on the exhibit.

This is a simulation of the spring of the brazilian river of São Francisco, right at the entrance of the zoo's thematic aquarium that exclusively represents the mentioned river.
