  13. [December 2017] Cypress Swamp- wood duck (Aix sponsa)

[December 2017] Cypress Swamp- wood duck (Aix sponsa)

I think this species is so beautiful. One I've gotten the privilege to see in the wild, although I did not get lucky enough to get good photos.
  14. [December 2018] Cypress Swamp- canvasback (Aythya valisineria) grooming

[December 2018] Cypress Swamp- canvasback (Aythya valisineria) grooming

I remember being so proud of this when I took it. Yet another Cypress Swamp photo from me playing with reflections. It was the first time I had noticed this opportunity. Obviously ended up being the first of many.

[December 2020] Cypress Swamp- canvasback (Aythya valisineria)

I actually find the female of this species to be more photogenic than the males. The just have such a sleek appearance. I really love how the streaks in the reflection compliment the bill shape in this shot.
  17. Cypress Swamp- white-winged duck (Asarcornis scutulata)

Cypress Swamp- white-winged duck (Asarcornis scutulata)

This species was a bit out of place in the Cypress Swamp, an exhibit themed to the swamps of the Missouri bootheel, as it is actually from Asia. I'm not sure if its still there, but it was an interesting and unique looking bird and I'm glad I had the chance to photograph it.
  18. [May 2021] Cypress Swamp- Redhead (Aythya americana)

[May 2021] Cypress Swamp- Redhead (Aythya americana)

One of several Cypress Swamp photos I took this visit that I really liked. Again, playing with those reflections.
  19. [May 2021] Cypress Swamp- hooded merganser

[May 2021] Cypress Swamp- hooded merganser

The reflections are really fun to play with in the Cypress Swamp. I thought this shot was cool because how the bright white streaks on the water resembled the merganser's markings. They also make good leading lines as well.
  20. [May 2021] Cypress Swamp- canvasback (Aythya valisineria)

[May 2021] Cypress Swamp- canvasback (Aythya valisineria)

I really like how striking the eye is and how the waterdrops look on his bill in this shot.
