The GVZ has a family of five Addax, including 10 yo Seguara, who I believe is shown in this shot (with a sleeping Canada goose in the background).

At the time, Ziya was 18 years old and clearly showing her age. Born at the GVZ, she was the last surviving member of the zoo's small breeding herd of Père David's deer. She spent her twilight in a merged enclosure, sharing space with a herd of sika deer.

Although the zoo boasts a flock of 19 American flamingoes (and 1 Chilean flamingo), this solitary bird caught my eye most of all.

The GVZ recently welcomed a trio of snow leopards, mama Batu and her sons Bodhi and Kyanada, from the Assiniboine Park Zoo. I caught them during mealtime, though they were still all quite shy, still getting comfortable in their new surroundings.

Boomer, the GVZ's 14yo old lion - at the time of my visit, Boomer was living alone, as he was being slowly introduced to his new partner, the white lioness Tess.
