I love how clearly you can see the tongue in this photo. Its not something usually visible in macaw photos so I was happy to have captured this.

Not 100% sure on the Catalina macaw ID. I know its a hybrid and that's the best match I could find but its hard to know for sure since hybrid macaws vary so much between individuals in coloration.

This one was really fun to play with in post production.

Nelson, a male Red-shouldered/Hahn's dwarf macaw, on his perch. The stationary birds at the conservatory have little to no enrichment items, and the quality of what they do get is reflected in my photo.

Taken in January, 2020. Of their larger birds, the Bloedel Conservatory has a pair of green-winged macaws named Carmen and Maria. To the untrained eye, the pair are identical, so I'm not too sure which of them I photographed here.

This was a pet macaw that was set free in the wild a few years ago and surprisingly survived. She lives in the woods, but likes to stay near the pubs and farms of the region.
