Dear all, I'm supporting a zoo improvement programme and I'm looking for enrichment suggestions for ostriches to help reduce feather plucking (on each other)? Cabbages tied to trees and foraging bowls have been tried with some success. Most likely the plucking will now be an inherent behaviour...

Are there any pure ostrich subspecies in captivity in Europe, either in public or private collection? Or are they just an unknown mix. Thanks :)

Does anyone have pics or updated info of the blue ostriches hatched recently at Monarto Zoo? FYI they are the Zimbabwean Blue subspecies. It's my understanding that six chicks hatched, but that the adult male died not long afterwards. Does anyone know if this subspecies is kept anywhere else...
