I know there have been threads before of the best cities for zoos, however those are all mostly subjective. I know that the number of species is not the best indicator of quality, however, looking at Shedd and Berlin, I somewhat question that.
Nonetheless, I was noticing that some cities in...
This is something I want to do in a while. And with the coronavirus here, I get a month without school so I can finally type out something to contribute here. Anyway, I have visit 33 zoos/aquariums throughout my life (I'm still only 16) and all of them are in Asia. This thread aims to rank them...
I would like to share my Adventure or experience encounter at the Singapore Zoo. I love all the beautiful animals and I know a lot of wonderful animals lover friends here feel the same as me. I notice a common issue, a lot of family with kids had miss out a lot of key interesting learning event...
This thread by @The_UltimateBea is called "The Best Zoological City". Different ZooChatters suggested what city they think is the best for zoo nerds. That got me thinking, if there was poll, which city would be voted the highest. So here it is. Each city suggested in that thread has an option on...
Hi, I'm planning a trip to Singapore early next year. Trip has mainly been spurred on by the arrival of the Spix's Macaws to Jurong.
How long would anyone recommend to spend at each of the 4 'zoos' - Jurong, Night Safari, River Safari and Singapore Zoo?
We were thinking of doing 2 a day, i.e...
Do you know of any mammal enclosures in zoos with completely natural looking barriers?
By natural looking barriers, I mean:
- Moats (dry and wet)

- Natural fences (such as large rocks, vertical logs or bamboo etc.)
(for example)...

In my continued wanderings around Asia I made the first of a number of visits to Singapore Night Safari which I found highly enjoyable. So much to see and do in Singapore. It beats me how people can describe it as boring. This visit was the last before heading over to Indonesia.
Sentosa Island Underwater World describes itself as the largest tropical oceanarium in Asia but somehow I doubt it. It is good though and definitely worth a visit.
During my 2006 visit to Singapore I visited the excellent Jurong Bird Park. Just across the car park was the truly awful Jurong Reptile and Crocodile Paradise I find it puzzling that a 'different' collection that is more or less on the door step of the Bird Park with a possibly huge visitor...
Over the past few years I have visited numerous animal collections in Asia. Some I have written up previously. Others I have just got round to. This is a record of my thoughts and opinions on my first visit in 2006 Jurong Bird Park
I have started pulling together my thoughts and opinions of a number of collections visited on my travels. This was my first visit to Singapore Zoo a few years back Singapore Zoo
Best Wishes,
Peter
