The GVZ recently welcomed a trio of snow leopards, mama Batu and her sons Bodhi and Kyanada, from the Assiniboine Park Zoo. I caught them during mealtime, though they were still all quite shy, still getting comfortable in their new surroundings.
Part of the snow leopard enclosure which is found in the carnivores section of the zoo, alongside Arctic wolves, red fox, Siberian tigers and Canada lynx.
One of the few times I actually utilized the fence as a composition element rather than desperately avoiding having it in the frame. I believe this individual had some kind of condition, because it was cross-eyed (as you can see) and was trembling. I don't have any information about it, though.
Not a huge fan of how prominent the fence is in this shot but I loved its expression so much. Maybe one day I'll get around to photoshopping all that fence out but this is what we have for now.
Well everyone. I suppose that one of you could say that after going through several changes for the description, species lists, general research, and finally, the overall layout that this project has been extensively going through for the past year and a half. I am more than excited to present...
This is the former enclosure for snow leopards and is now the enclosure for 2 (1.1, although they are brother and sister) black leopards. This photo was taken in the winter, so there is snow in the enclosure.
This is my idea of a children zoo set in a cold climate, and designed to be fully attractive in both summer and sub-zero temperatures. It focuses on animals of Asia and contains outdoor and indoor parts. I also tried to introduce many threatened species.
