Toronto Zoo Zoo visit on December 18th

Usually I to visit the zoo on Christmas eve, but the 18th was the closest to Christmas that I could go to. Some of my observations: -Arctic Wolves were VERY vocal, lots of interactions. In all the years I have been going to the zoo, this was probably the best time I've seen them. They...

Toronto Zoo Toronto Zoo Present Happenings

I thought that since we have past and future threads, why not a thread for present happenings (aside from breeding related)? :) To kick off this thread, excellent Black Footed Ferret news! The Canadian Press: Endangered black-footed ferrets return home to wilds of Canadian Prairie

1972 Planning Map for the Toronto Zoo

This is the site concept for the zoo, made once the site had been selected but before construction started. The "Phase 2" sections never did come to fruition, but the rest of the site is fairly recognizable.

    Indian Hornbill and keeper

This particular bird was blinded in an accident after a fight with her mate. She is now given the best of care by her keeper who brings her around and educates the public about the plight of the species. The bond between keeper and bird is very evident here. I got to pet her, she's a doll.
  12. Big Jerroh

    Big Jerroh

Despite the lack of mane, Jerroh is a (neutered) male! He is seven years old and is the biggest cat at the Toronto Zoo. He is even larger than the male Siberian Tiger, Tonghua.
