Checking out the new neighbours: a couple of southern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum simum) take a break from grazing to look at the three male blesbok (Damaliscus pygargus phillipsi), currently housed with the roan antelope and sitatunga.
I've added this shot to the Gallery as there's been recent discussion in the forum regarding the use of this enclosure by the bongos, and its use for quarantining/introduction of the Thomson's gazelles. Hopefully the photo will help people visualise some of the details mentioned in the forum...
Tragelaphus eurycerus isaaci. A fellow ZooChatterer and I were stood 'zoochatting' next to the empty bongo enclosure, when the whole group ambled out, took a drink and wandered off to the wooded area. It was nice to see them up closer than usual (in the open, that is).
