Good evening everybody, I've noticed that manatees are only kept in two or three zoos/aquariums in the US outside of Florida. Is there a particular reason why so many US zoos and aquariums don't have manatees? Is it because of cost, laws, or something else? Thank you & excited to see the responses!
Hello,
I'm a Christian author and I'm doing a bit of research for a novel I'm working on. I'm looking for animals that aren't yet seen in United States Zoos and are extremely rare. The animals in question would have to be able to survive in captivity and I would prefer mammals. Any help would...
The zoo is holding a contest to name their female tiger cub born on September 6th. The name options are:
- Cahya (Kai-ah): "Light in Darkness" in Indonesian.
- Kirana (Kee-rah-nah): "Beautiful Sunbeam" in Indonesian.
- Tiga (Tee-gah): "Three" in Indonesian, symbolizing her as our third cub.

Besides the Maned Wolf, are any other South American canids held? What about the various fox species besides Red and Fennec?

Doesn't look like anybody has done a species list for my local zoo, so after a visit this afternoon, I have compiled a comprehensive list of species on display at the San Antonio Zoo as of December 14th, 2021. It was a very productive day, with very few no shows, and a number of new species on...
