This image is a somewhat, loose memorial to the world renowned Winter the Dolphin, who recently passed away on November 11th, 2021, due to an uncontrollable gastrointestinal infection at the age of sixteen.
This is the former enclosure for snow leopards and is now the enclosure for 2 (1.1, although they are brother and sister) black leopards. This photo was taken in the winter, so there is snow in the enclosure.
Most zoo enthusiasts visit temperate climate zoos in the summer months, for obvious reasons. Are there any temperate climate zoos that you think are better to visit in the winter rather than the summer?
I personally enjoy my winter visits to the Minnesota Zoo much more than my summer visits.
Fairly simplistic question here folks. I have never visited a zoo in a country/city where it gets very cold or snows in winter.
I was just wondering, how do the tropical animals (let's say macaws, Asian elephants, orangutans etc) cope in winter? Are they kept indoors during winter? Or maybe...
