I thought I'd make a news thread for the LEO Zoological Conservation Center since there's currently none out there.

Other news is that a chute has been built to connect both forest reindeer enclosures.
The zoo has become the first in Germany to breed the Northern cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus soemmeringii).
5 cubs were initially born, but 0.0.2 died soon after, with 3 kittens currently being raised.

A very special hatching has been announced, 2 black caimans have been hatched artificially at the zoo, as they have been artificially incubated, the temperature they were hatched at indicates that they are both males.

When we last visited the zoo ( April 2008 ), the crocodile area of the reptile house was sealed off, as a new exhibit for the Morelet's Crocodiles was being built. Does anybody know if this exhibit is now open? What will the zoo do with the Mexico House that the crocs were in before ?

Have the Tierpark received a Baird's tapir from Wuppertal, saw something on their website and my German aint up2 scratch, and if so will they or Wuppertal be importing anymore into Europe.
