Next weekend I am visiting my 75th Zoo / aquarium when I go to The Beardsley's Zoo and it got me thinking that I should plan a special trip for my hundredth place. This Summer I am visiting Tennessee and next February I will likely visit Arizona which should take my total to around 90. I have visited San Diego most North East, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan. It would be great if I could select a facility with a great collection or great animal encounter. I am open to traveling to another country as well. Currently my top choices are Henry Doorly Zoo, Animal Kingdom, Lowery Park, North Carolina Zoo in the US. Internationally I am open to suggestions in Europe, I would love to go to Australia but I don't think I can swing that yet. Open to any suggestions just trying to come up with an amazing trip for my 100th.

Having been to all of your US suggestions aside from Omaha, I would say that NC or Animal Kingdom would both feel like great and substantial places to commemorate such a milestone. Personally I'd advise against Tampa if you want this to feel special, however. It's by no means a bad zoo, but I certainly went in expecting more than I ultimately got out of it.

Agree that Tampa isn't worthy of being your 100th zoo is you wanna make a real thing out of it. It's a very good zoo that's close to my heart, but nowhere near the top players in the U.S.. Omaha or Saint Louis would definitely be the best choices if you're staying domestic in my opinion.

Internationally however there are several other great choices: Zoo Berlin (most iconic zoo in Europe) or Tiergarten Schönbrunn (world's oldest existing zoo) would each be satisfying in a symbolic sense. There's also Arnhem, Chester, Prague, Zurich, etc, all incredible places.

Singapore is another option, but if Australia is too far out for you then East Asia probably is as well.

I normally do a lot of my zoo trips solo sparing my friends from being dragged all over. That is probably why Asia and Australia would be hard I don't feel comfortable going to Asia without some others, but the US and even Europe I would be fine solo.

If you haven't been to Omaha or Saint Louis those are the most obvious choices for 100th zoo. I'd lean towards Omaha, but both are for sure among the best zoos in the country. Omaha has a larger scale but Saint Louis has better feels IMO.

Omaha and DAK are definitely my top 2 currently I hadn't thought of St Louis which is a great idea. Germany is definitely what I had in mind for Europe so I will look into the the German zoos. Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming.

To be honest, DAK isn’t that impressive imao, if you want your 100th zoo to be mind blowing, I’d pick Omaha no doubt whatsoever.

Definitely thinking Omaha but the reason I had the thought of DAK is that I could stay at the lodge, do a behind the scenes tour or safari, that trip I would probably go with friends I'm not a Disney person but I would drink around Epcot. If we are talking collection and design Omaha 100 out of a 100. Does anyone know if Omaha does any cool animal encounters or behind the scenes tours?

The lodge and DAK are separate zoos so which one would be your 100th? Frankly DAK is pretty good but nothing more, IMO.

If DAK was the choice I guess I would do the lodge as 99 and DAK as 100, I would try to hit the other local zoos and aquariums on the trip as well so I can manipulate the schedule if needed. I would also like to add OKC to a possible choice I was supposed to go in February but it was 10 degrees that day so I stayed in Dallas. Definitely want to see Raccoon Dogs.
