Rotterdam Zoo 11 Red-billed Toucans born

We have in a "almost no news" period, so this hit the frontpages of yesterday's newspapers: Blijdorp showed the 11 Red-billed Toucans that were born this year: AD Mijn Zoo - Nieuws

You actually see 7 on the photo because the eldest has already moved into a bird enclosure and the smallest are hidden in the bowl on the left.

Because they rarely breed in zoos (there are a little over 100 birds in the European zoos), the birds are hand-reared. The three parent-couples have produced more eggs and are allowed to hatch them themselves, so the end-count could be higher.
 
As seen in the pictures, the animals are actually Toco Toucans (Ramphastos Toco) and not red-billed (they don't even look red-billed ;) ).

Still an amazing result, Rotterdam holds 5 breeding pairs, of which 3 have produced these 11 chicks. Makes for a fun picture too (see link above)
