Watched roar today, the CBBC programme filmed at Howletts and Port Lympne on the BBCI player, and the presenter was in a cage next to the spectacled langurs with 2.0 banded leaf langurs and the keeper said that these 2 were the only 2 in captivity.
I thought Howletts had a large breeding group admitidedlly of a few sub species, are they really only down to 2?

They are probably the Mitred langurs, the only viable group is of the nominate race now, I think there are still some hybrids.

Howletts/Port Lympne maintains 3 separate subspecies of banded langur P. melalophos. The 2 males under review are the P. melalophos nobilis. As no males of P.m. mitrata and no females of P.m. nobilis are forthcoming to date they cannot make up breeding groups for these. I hope for some progress in getting some more banded langurs of both subspecies from Indonesia direct. The breeding group of bandeds is the nominate race P. m. melalophos.

Aside from the afore-mentioned they maintain several hybrids (alas). :(
