Well my time in the Uk come's to a close very soon but took a little trip to Sea Life Blackpool yesterday.
It's a small collection which at £16.50 is not value for money with entry, but I have a Merlin pass so it's free for me
They have a baby Black Tip Shark in the Stingray tank, she's called Ariel and she was born in Windsor, and is about 6 months old now. She's about 1.5ft at present but she is a very cute specimen.
In the Ocean Tank, they have 9 Black Tip Sharks, 2 Bowmouth Guitarfish Shark, a Female Zebra Shark and 2 White Tip Shark. The White Tips look a fair bit more nasty than the Black Tip.
They also have a 78yo Sea Turtle who is absolutely huge ! I had no idea how big they were until I got to see the one they have and it can't have been much smaller than 4ft.
The Black Tips are around 6-7ft and the Guitarfish a bit bigger.
I paid £30 to partake in feeding the sharks which was good fun and stretched the day out longer and also got to feed the Sea Turtle as well as she came up to the surface (when you feed them you go to the top of the tank).
I thought for the £30 it was good value, and this includes entry so if I was going to visit I personally would look at paying £30 for this 30 minute experience rather, than £16.50 just for entry. It's worth the extra £13.50.
The staff are helpful and good to talk to and the talks are enjoyable.
Sadly there are only 4/5 rooms so it's a very small collection, and you could easily make your way round within an hour if you didn't take in the talks. I went at 1pm and found myself after listening to 3 talks, waiting around for 15 minutes for the Shark feed.
Sadly the Aquarium seems to no longer hold Octopus which I used to enjoy seeing and they used to have a massive Spider Crab as well but he apparently had died. There are now fish and a Green Eel (didn't see him) in the tank that he used to live in.
The Shark tunnel is impressive at Blackpool, as is the Ray tank with the baby Shark in, but there really isn't enough to see for what it costs.
