Well, there's another season done and dusted. I'll go through the major finishes in the leagues.
Premier League
After a lot of fierce battles in the league table, Manchester City won the league with Liverpool coming in a very close second. Chelsea came in third, with Tottenham Hotspur snatching the Champions League spot from Arsenal, who finish in 5th. Manchester United finish in 6th after arguably one of their worst seasons to date, with West Ham getting the conference league spot. Burnley, Watford and Norwich are relegated, with Leeds and Everton narrowly avoiding relegation. Coming up to the Premier League next season are Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest.
La Liga
Real Madrid won the title comfortably, with a 13-point gap from Barcelona in 2nd place. Also qualifying for the Champions League are Atlético Madrid and Sevilla. Real Betis and Real Sociedad grab the Europa League spots, with Villarreal going into the Conference League. None of the sides that got promoted last season were relegated this season, with the unfortunate relegated teams being Alavés, Levante and Granada. Coming up to La Liga next season are Almería, Valladolid and either Eibar, Las Palmas, Tenerife, or Girona.
Bundesliga
With an 8-point gap, Bayern Munich were the champions, with Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig grabbing the Champions League spaces, with Leipzig just one point from Union Berlin in 5th place. In the other Europa League spot was SC Freiburg, with 1. FC Köln grabbing the Conference League spot. The winners of the Europa League, Eintracht Frankfurt, only managed to get to 11th. Hertha BSC won their relegation playoffs, so stay in the league. The relegated teams are Arminia Bielefeld and Greuther Fürth. Coming up to the Bundesliga next season are Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen, with Hamburger SV losing their promotion play-offs against Hertha BSC, therefore staying in the 2. Bundesliga.
Serie A
Milan sealed their win on the final day to win the title, with Internazionale just barely missing out. Joining them in the Champions League was Napoli and Juventus. With just a point separating all of these teams each, Lazio and Roma booked their places in the Europa League, with the Conference League spot going to Fiorentina. The unfortunate relegation victims were Cagliari, Genoa and Venezia, with Salernitana just one point above the relegation zone. Coming up next season are Lecce, Cremonese and Monza via the play-offs.
Ligue 1
(To I'm sure nobody's surprise...) Paris Saint-Germain were crowned the champions, with a 15 point-gap from fellow Champions League qualifier Marseille. Monaco landed in 3rd place, putting them in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League. In the Europa League space was Rennes, with Nice landing in 5th due to their 1-point deduction for their crowd trouble against Marseille. Nantes, the Coupe de France winners, only managed to grab 9th. Bordeaux and Metz were relegated this season, along with Saint-Étienne, who lost their relegation play-offs. Coming up for next season are Toulouse, Ajaccio and Auxerre, who won the aforementioned play-offs against Saint-Étienne.
Other International Leagues
In Portugal, Porto won the league, with Sporting CP also qualifying for the Champions League. Benfica qualified for the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League, with Braga qualifying for the Europa League. Tondela, B-SAD and Moreirense were relegated.
In Scotland, Celtic won the league, with Rangers qualifying for the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League in 2nd. Hearts qualified for the Europa League. Dundee were relegated, with St Johnstone surviving the relegation play-offs to stay in the Premiership.
In the Netherlands, Ajax won the league, with PSV Eindhoven qualifying for the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League. The Conference League finalists Feyenoord qualified for the Europa League. PEC Zwolle, Willem II and Heracles Almelo were relegated, the latter losing their relegation play-offs.
In Belgium, Union SG won the league and got qualification to the Conference League, with fellow play-off contenders including Club Brugge, Anderlecht and Antwerp. Beerschot were the only relegated team, with Seraing surviving the relegation play-offs.
Other English Leagues
In the Championship, Peterborough United, Derby County and Barnsley were relegated. Coming up next season are the aforementioned relegated teams from the Premier League and Wigan Athletic, Rotherham United and Sunderland, at long last. Fulham won the league.
In League One, Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers, AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra were relegated. Aside from the relegated teams from the Championship, coming up next season are Forest Green Rovers, Exeter City, Bristol Rovers (damn it!) and Port Vale. Wigan Athletic won the league.
In League Two, Oldham Athletic were relegated (becoming the first former Premier League team to go down to the National League), as well as Scunthorpe United. Aside from the relegated teams from League One, coming up next season are Stockport County and Grimsby Town or Solihull Moors. Forest Green Rovers won the league,
In the National League, Dover's Athletic, King's Lynn Town and Weymouth were relegated. Aside from those already mentioned, the teams coming up next season are Gateshead, York City, Maidstone United and Dorking Wanderers.
And the season comes to a close. A terrific season in my eyes for the neutral (not so much for me, god damn Bristol City...), with the Premier League especially being one of the best in recent memory, the final day was exhilarating and exciting, with Ilkay Gundogan rising up to the occasion to win Manchester City the title. Excited to hear other thoughts and opinions about this season.
