South Lakes Wild Animal Park 23 new species for South Lakes!

The Tapir looked a bit too comfortable and relaxed in the bear/monkey/otter/cababara enclosure. Maybe the wolves will liven them up a bit :p

Does he not have to adhere to certain standards? Surely the zoo licencing people aren't really keen on these mixed exhibits?!

This is a mystery that has been discussed on here before. It can only be the Zoo Licensing authorities don't look too hard or accept the exhibits for what they are without comment, but it is odd.

According to their Facebook page, over 100 new animals are arriving at South Lakes this week. Make of that what you will.

Where's the like button?!
As i've probably said before, i doubt i'll ever visit there & not just due to the location!

I take that back, i might if they got South China Tiger & Javan or Sumatran Rhino. But they'd probably be in a mixed exhibit!!

Knowing South Lakes, South China Tiger=Hybrid Bengal and Javan Rhino=Brazilian Tapir with it's snout taped up!

:p

This zoo has one major problem - Mr Gill.

His jumped up, self inflated, bad attitude, combined with a total lack of proper zoo-experience and proper zoo-knowledge etc..etc...etc...

He makes what it is, and all the time he is running it, it will be rubbish.

Seriously, it would be in everyone's interests if the inspection standards were uniformly rigorous. It does seem fairly apparent that a rather sterner approach is applied to London Zoo, told to build a new Tiger enclosure capable of segregating the animals, than to South Lakes...

According to a post by Mr Gill that was then shared by the Park's Facebook page, the 100 new animals due to arrive will be a flock of flamingos that a new house is being built for.

Today a female Snow leopard arrived and has moved in with Wolfgang. They have called her 'Kaydi' after the tiger cup that died in September 2012. First time I've seen the death publicly acknowledged. Kids get in free over October Half term. Hoping for 'free entry' to resume promptly after. Expansion is cracking on at an alarming rate!

Other new arrivals this week include 8 species of pheasant, 16 roseate spoonbills and Amazon parrots. Also, the building of the new African House is now underway.

I'd say so! Intrigued to see how the manage that?! Surely it can't be a crowd around and pay a pound affair?!
Why not it wouldn't be the most stupid idea that he ever came up with doing it that way!

Given that he once advertised the chance to walk with Cheetahs, but luckly that got stopped before it happened!!
