3 QUICK QUESTIONS

Three quick questions:
1. What are your thoughts on the current gorilla and leopard enclosure at Chessington World of Adventures?
2. What are your thoughts on crowned cranes in the African savvanah exhibit at Colchester Zoo?
3. Are there any zoos in England that have a good badger exhibit?

1. Well on their website Chessington no longer lists leopard, so I'm assuming the Lynx have gone into their old enclosure. I would say both enclosures are OK but on the small side. There has been a lot of discussions on here about the gorilla enclosure, hopefully one day they will get a new one, although it seems not their main priority.

3. The only badger exhibit I've seen is at the New Forest Wildlife Park, you can see their sleeping area inside so its quite likely you will actually see them.

There is a badger exhibit at the British Wildlife Centre in Surrey. They have 1 male and 2 females who are all hand reared wild rescues. You can see their indoor sleeping area which has several chambers although they usually sleep curled up together.

There is a badger talk at 3pm when they are fed in their outdoor area.

The BWC is well worth visiting, they have a walkthrough red squirrel enclosure which is wonderful and they have had 6 Scottish Wildcat kittens this year in 2 litters. If you are only going to visit once it is best to go to the half hourly talks as the animals are used to being fed then and will make an appearance

Opening hours are unusual so it is best to read the website first

New Forest Wildlife Park no longer has badgers - I think it was a couple of years ago they were sent elsewhere.
As RedCat09 says, the British Wildlife Centre badger enclosure is good - you can see them inside and they also venture out. Wildwood in Kent also have them and, from what I remember, the enclosure is nice there too - the badgers were out when we went, but that may have only been because a kids' TV show was being filmed.

Paignton zoo do a badger watch. It is truely amazing to be that close to badgers. You are taken into a hide and the badgers come up from their setts to feed. When i went the group had cubs which added to the experience. Would highly reccomend it! Plus walking around the zoo grounds after the zoo had closed in the darkness was amazing.
