30 Biggest Stories of 2012 in Wildlife Conservation

Yet another 2012-conservation succes story.
By 2004 the entire population of the New Zealand Malherbes parakeet was down to 300-500 specimens. During 2007 11 captive-bred birds wee released on predator-free Maud Island and now this population has almost reached 100 !
Other relaesed have taken place in the meantime:
2009 on Tuhua Island
2011 and 2012 Blumine Island
The total population now stands about 1000 birds !
