5 Must See Species Before You Die

Great list! Are water chevrotain tough? I’ve heard they’re not too difficult with a good tracker and sturdy pair of boots.

Thanks! Water Chevrotain aren't necessarily that difficult, but they haven't been kept in captivity outside their range in my lifetime, and I have yet to visit that part of Africa. Although that second part may change next August!

My sturdy pair of boots are ready haha!

Honestly my top 5 could change any day of the week but as of right this moment I'd say the following:

1. Blue whale
2. Sumatran rhino
3. Platypus
4. Emperor penguin
5. Marine iguana

@Fallax a very varied list, I love it! I've been lucky enough to see 5/5, including blue whale and marine iguana in the wild.

1. Chinese Pangolin
2. Southern Elephant Seal
3. Blue Whale
4. Basking Shark
5. Manta Ray

Should hopefully be able to make a start on this next year with the pangolins at Prague if all goes according to plan!

This is certainly a very tough call, I'll go with the following however, it's likely my mind will change as soon as I post this

1) Bearded vulture (which I hope to see next summer)
2) Any species of steamer duck
3) Northern or Southern giant petrel
4) Northern or Southern elephant seal
5) Oleander hawk moth

1. Clouded Leopard
2. Whale Shark
3. Pink Fairy Armadillo
4. Orca
5. Blue and Humpback Whale
Honorable Mentions :
Honey Badger
Pangolin
Naked Mole Rat
American and European Beaver
Baird's Tapir

It is most certainty difficult to shrink down this list to five species but here I go.
In captivity
- South China tiger
- Kiwi (any species)
- Yunnan snub nosed monkey
- Russian saiga
- Guizhou snub nosed monkey
In the wild
- Whale shark
