A brief history of orca performances in captivity

The orca at the Seattle Aquarium ( not to mistaken with the present Seattle Aquarium!) was the famous"Namu", the second orca hold in human care. He lived there in a former dry dock in the Port for one year.

Thanks for clarifying the difference between the aquariums. It seems that the 1965 facility was the Seattle Marine Aquarium, a private facility owned by Ted Griffin, the guy who captured many of the orcas in captivity and killed several of them in the process. That facility closed in 1977.

The current Seattle Aquarium, a public aquarium, opened in 1977 and has never had orcas.
