A cetacean fanatic appears.

Hello, my name's Paleo.

I came across this site while surfing the web and thought it would be as good a place as any to get back into the wildlife/zoo/aquarium community. It's been quite a while since I've been part of a forum like this and this place seems nice from what I've browsed so far.

I can definitely help contribute to the galleries since I have taken many photos over the years. (Most of the best can be seen here.) And this forum may give me many ideas for my new blog, Steno bredanensis.

Anyway... to introduce some things about myself... well... I currently live in North Carolina, and I've been to the State Zoo here a few times and visited all of the aquariums on the carolina coast. I'm hoping to move down to Florida this summer though, and work on my Bachelor's in Marine Bio.

Like it says in the title of this post, I'm a cetacean fanatic. I became obsessed with the animals about 7 years ago and have dedicated my life goals to learning about them.

I usually don't stay around forums that long, and there's only been a few that I've been a regular at in the past, so hopefully this one will be one that I frequent very often.

Welcome from a follow cetacean lover (probably not as much as you). Is there any certain cetacean species you would consider your favorite?

I hope I do too! Thanks for the welcome.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that... as you can see by the gallery that I linked, I've been to Sea World, San Diego many times.

Other zoos and aquariums I've been to out of state include:
-San Diego Zoo
-Birch Aquarium
-Santa Monica Pier Aquarium
-San Diego Wild Animal Park
-Aquarium of the Pacific
-Ripley's Aquarium at Myrtle Beach
-Georgia Aquarium

My mother used to live in California and I visited quite often, so that's why there's an abundance of Southern California facilities on my list.

Two places you might like to visit are the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the Tennesse Aquarium (even though they lack cetaceans)

Yeah, I definitely want to visit the National Aquarium, I'll probably visit in the summer. As for the Tennessee aquarium, that would be nice to visit as well, but much further. The National Aquarium is a much shorter drive since I don't live that far from the Virginia border. (I live in Franklin county)

If you visit after April, the National Aquarium, Baltimore will have have two new dolphin calves! Hope you can make to Baltimore some time. You will defiantly have a great time!
