The reptile park maintains 2 Chelonoidis becki males that were part of the 3 male C. becki originally received by Zuerich Zoo direct from the Galapagos Islands. The breeding male at Zuerich Zoo is the male C. becki that stayed at Zuerich, while the other 2 males were sent to A Cupullata.Exciting news : last May 21st saw a Galapagos giant tortoise hatched. The baby has been given the name of Darwin for the moment (he has not been sexed yet).
This is the first breeding record in France and the park is the fourth one in Europe to succeed in according to this article : Corse : une tortue des Galapagos est née à Ajaccio, une première en France
For a long time the park has two wild borned males (more than 70 years old) and received a captive borned female only in 2021.
