Alright then,

Clues:
A bird, starts with E,
Near all of this genus comes in brilliant hues of blue & yellow,
They were once thought to belong in the family, Thraupidae, (tanagers), but instead belong to a more 'drab' family, a former ssp. in Puerto Rico has been split quite recently.

No, an example would be: if my name was Greg Johnson, but some people would call me Sam Johnson, I only referred to the first word, so the start of my name could either be called g or s, with g being more common.

In other, simpler words, I have 2 common names, one starting with g and the other s, while the one with s is more common.
