Do any of the German/ Austrian/ Swiss members of zoochat have this book?

If so is it still useful for a non German reader like myself to buy?
And is there any chance that an English version might be printed in the future?

The book is featured on the Zoo Info's de site.

I reccommend the DVDs which you can get on eBay, even if you can't speak German there is lots of interesting footage and you can get a box set of 10 episodes (more are available). I have Hannover, Basel and Duisburg spare if anyone is interested as I bought them twice by mistake.

No English version I'm aware of but a fantastic book - even with the minimal German at my disposal (mostly zoo-related, I'll admit!) it's incredibly valuable.

That was my thinking too, my German is sadly limited to just a few useful words to allow me to travel around, but I think I should get the jist of the book, and then use the book to find an animal attraction's website and hope for an English version.

I also think it would be useful in finding smaller places, for example in the NRW area I most likely would not have gone to Krefeld as there are bigger cities / towns in the area with more famous zoo's, but I'm so glad I found this little gem. Hopefully this book will help me hunt down more good places in the Berlin or NRW area...

Next I'm hoping to find something similar for Holland / Belgium......

Wait for new edition - it is forthcoming this year (50 more zoos will be added). My German is very poor (much worse than my English) but I find this book very useful and interesting. A lot of practical information, a lot of photos. Very good book - best of this kind for me.

Thanks for that, I saw that on Amazon DE and UK , that there is a new book for 2012, but it didn't say when so I will now wait for this one.

I wonder if it's also sold in German zoo's? I 've now sen it on ebay (the old edition), so it's easy for me to get.

I purchased the new edition (2012) a few months ago and if it was in English it would be absolutely outstanding. The fact that it is entirely in German is alleviated by the terrific foldout maps, hundreds of colourful photos, detailed reviews, essays and many other wonderful pieces of writing that I can barely read yet I admire from afar. The sheer joy of being able to visit 600+ zoos just in Germany, Switzerland and Austria must be amazing for locals in that region of the world.
