Milwaukee County Zoo About some question before plan visiting

Hi everyone.
During my spring break I plan to go to Atlanta and Chicago for zoos, and I find that maybe I could go to Milwaukee for a visit. And here comes the question:
1, would the end of February too cold for visit the zoo since the weather would not let so many species to show?
2, would the badger be active in this season? I love badger but unfortunately I do not able to see anyone in zoo or in wild.
Thanks!

Most of the zoos collection can be seen in the winter. A large portion of the popular megafauna are cold-tolerant species that can be outdoors year-round and many of the warm weather species can be seen indoors (elephant, giraffe, hippo, primates, African carnivores). There are also numerous animal houses like the aviary, small mammal house and the reptile/aquatics house. You'd likely only miss some of the African hoofstock and a few South American species.

It's been years since I've seen the badger at Milwaukee. No matter the season it's almost never visible. You're better off going an hour west to Henry Vilas for a better chance at seeing a badger awake and moving.

Thanks for the information, I will consider to re-plan my visit

I've seen the badger in recent years, but it is still very hit or miss.

I have visited Milwaukee in winter, albeit many years ago and had a good time for the most part! There is still a lot to enjoy because so much of the rest of the zoo is either indoor exhibits or cold-hardy animals. That said, the Africa section felt completely devoid of life without the hoofstock present and the cats and pachyderms indoors; I was not very interested in hoofstock at that time but their absence was felt. If you have little interest in such exhibits anyway and just want to visit the North American wildlife and the indoor habitats, you could still have a great visit, but if you had any interest in the waterhole for example, you would really be missing out.

I have personally not seen the badger active, unfortunately.

Also I find one thing that the zoo have whooping crane, but they will not on show at this winter season I think?

I'm glad you saw the cranes and managed to enjoy the zoo in spite of the weather. Any other visit highlights?
I would say mostly is the bird part, It's my first time observe Laysan Duck, Madagascar Teal, Egyptian Plover and Chevrotain. I will upload several picture when I get back to Ann Arbor.
