Baby Snow Leopard, Baby Lemur, more on Thorn

Snow leopards Azeo and Sarani welcomed their first cub together on May 19. This is Azeos 13th cub born at the zoo.

Black-and-white ruffed lemurs Darby and Nuit welcomed baby Izy on April 14. They will be on display with last years baby twins!

That was fast ... (considering the new female only arrived early this year)!

Terrible news about Sunny. I remember seeing him in San Diego back in 2012. I really hoped he and Nancy would’ve produced offspring.

The zoo will be sending away the seals to make room for a new Australia exhibit.

Seals likely to leave Rio Grande Zoo as new Australia exhibit takes their place

Having checked out the video, I'm happy to hear the long-awaited saltwater croc exhibit will be constructed, along with the addition of rock wallaby and dingo as mentioned at the end of the article. I wonder if the red kangaroos and emus will find a new home here, as well as the return of koala. Maybe I'm over-reading it, but interesting that they'd want to move all Australian animals to the new area - how much space is in the area? Plus the current Aussie region is already right next to the pinnipeds.

I didn't realize they no longer have koalas. That is a shame because they had a very good exhibit I thought. Also glad to hear the crocs will finally be moved out of their warehouse-turned-exhibit which is a monstrosity.
