An update on the zoo's projects. The Australian project will see Little Penguins added into the old seal habitat also with a new aviary. Both the Asian (phase two) and Australian projects are now expected to be finished by Spring 2023. The construction of a new entrance area will also start in 2023: Construction at the Albuquerque Zoo bringing new Asia and Australia exhibits

On February 4th, the zoo announced that a (1.0) slender-tailed meerkat named Asante passed away on January 26th due to old age. He was 14 years old and the last surviving member of the meerkat troop.

On February 15th, the zoo announced they have rehabilitated a (1.0) Mexican grey wolf named m1888 after he came to the facility in late January suffering from gunshot wounds. He has since been released back into the wild on February 9th.

On March 25th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) Palawan binturong named Zeya has passed away at age 14.

On May 8th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) Grand Cayman blue iguana is now expecting eggs after performing an ultrasound on April 20th. The facility has been trying to breed the species for ~2 years.

On June 3rd, the zoo announced that their birds are back on exhibit after being behind the scenes due to avian influenza.

On June 22nd, the zoo announced that earlier in June, they moved its (1.2) llamas and a (1.0) alpaca behind the scenes while the facility builds a new corral space at the Heritage Farm area.

Alligator removed from New Mexico home gets settled in zoo: report

An alligator that was reportedly rescued from a New Mexico home during a criminal investigation has been transferred to a zoo in Albuquerque.

The three-foot alligator, whose name and sex haven't been revealed, was taken in by the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish before it was handed over to the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo.
 
Does anyone know if they ever built that Arctic fox exhibit they announced decades ago or if they at least took down the signage for it?
