ACTP - Verein zur Erhaltung bedrohten Papageien e.V

She is one of the Loro Parque bred females so she is one of the few birds that came from different founders as the majority of the population.

Does anyone know something about the "unknown" birds in Switzerland ( and how related are these to the known population ) ?

The Lear's macaws ACTP recieved from Brazil are through quarantaine and are now placed in the breeding facility ( FB ) :).

The ACTP will receive some (I asume 7) Glossy Black cockatoos (C. lathami) from Sydney.

wow! (Sorry, I mean WOW!!!).

Is that actually lathami and not a misprint for a more common species?

The pictures show lathami :), so I think it is correct. The birds are coming from Priam.

And here is a picture of one of the arrivals. I love what he did with the perch.

Is this species really "least concern" and if so, why is an organization calling itself "...bedrohten papageien" importing this species and so happy about it?

Seems odd...

ACTP is famous for their results with rare parrots but due to their good contacts with Al Wabra they have now gone into Bird of Paradise too.
4 (sub)species were imported from Quatar and have now left the quarantaine:
Mainland greater bird of paradise
Aru Island greater bird of paradise
King bird of paradise
Red bird of paradise

Excellent - two taxa which were otherwise absent from Europe, and one which was on the brink of disappearing :) just a pity no one can see them!

After only being 6 months in the collection the Glossy black cockatoos have laid their first egg !

Great news from ACTP ( FB ) :

NEWS!!!
This week we have fantastic news for you! We informed you already that our St. Vincent Amazons here in Germany are from two different populations: one from the United States and one coming from the original habitat St. Vincent. We finally managed to pair birds from both subpopulations and to breed successfully. So the first St. Vincent parrot chick with parents of both populations has hatched this week in Germany. The mother of the young Amazon is originally from the US and the father from St. Vincent. This gives the chick a high genetic value! We are very glad to share the first pictures with you...
