hi - new to zoochat - can anyone tell me how to add a link to a post (to a video/news report etc) cant work it out :(
The HELP link doesnt work for me.
and what is a "trackback"?

also adding a photo to a post - does it have to be a gif? I only have jpgs...
how do you convert them to gifs?

adding links is easy once you know how. Basically click on the website name in the scroll bar at top of screen to highlight it and then hit Ctrl plus C (this copies the link), then in your reply box on Zoochat hit Ctrl plus V (this pastes the link). You can do the same thing using right click with your mouse.

If you are on a laptop without a mouse click before the website name then while holding down the Shift button click at the end of the name; this highlights it; then two-finger click on the highlighted section and an options box will appear with "copy" as one of the options; select this and then two-finger click on the Zoochat reply box and choose the "paste" option.

I suggest quoting the article after putting the link because then more people will actually read it, and it saves it on the site (some websites don't keep news articles for more than a year or two, so if it is removed from the site your link won't work any more).

To put things inside a quote box type
then put the text you want to use and then put
again but put / in front of the word quote (in the second box).

You can use jpgs when posting pictures.

Ignore the "trackback" part - that's just something to try and make the forum behave a bit more like some blogs do. I'm not a fan of it and will probably disable it for a future version of the site.

Don't use GIFs ... JPG or PNG are ideal (typically I use JPG for photos and PNG for graphics such as screen-shots or diagrams)

I still can't seem to add photos. It says that ther are invalid files and says that only gifs PDFs etc are allowed?
Also when I added a video it didn't display the link, but embedded the video in the large format as it appeared on YouTube.
What am I doing wrong?

You need to upload photos to the gallery - ZooChat Photo Gallery ... go to the gallery you want to upload to and then click on the "New Photo" button.

The auto-YouTube embedding is intentional. There is still a link to the video there (in the title, and in the video itself).
