According to their Instagram, a Common Surinam Toad is now in Frogs: Nature’s Messengers.
It’s a return of species. They had it before and idk what happened to it
Never posted I just found out and this happened like three months ago, but sad news from the Adventure Aquarium.
Adventure Aquarium is saddened to announce the passing of longtime resident African penguin, Mouse. As Cliff’s longtime mate, Mouse was beloved by Aquarium staff for her calm nature. However she had bad arthritis and was bearing weight on one leg, so at 31 years old, she was humanely euthanized.
I do not work at the Aquarium and I wrote this like a sad letter as what the workers do when an animal passes

There’s a Cape Porcupine in the Hippo exhibit, which I don’t think was previously on exhibit. I know they had one back when the exhibit was West African River Experience, but I think, and correct me if I’m wrong, it was taken off exhibit when the free-flying birds were phased out.
The Waxy Monkey Tree Frogs were replaced by Australian Green Tree Frogs and the surinam toads that were previously mentioned on this thread replaced the Striped Mud Turtles.

The cape porcupine was on exhibit since last July when I visited, but idk when it first came.
For the porcupine who was on exhibit in West African River Expreince, they were never taken off exhibit and they had two brothers named Julian and Vince. They couldn’t live together so they rotated them every month. One of them was always on exhibit for a few more years since Hippo Haven opened. They both passed away in 2018 and were well into their teenage years, considered old for porcupines.

From my recollection I think it was either an Atlantic stingray or a juvenile southern stingray.
Unfortunately, they both passed away. One just this year, the other one died many years ago.

According to the aquarium website, the hippo exhibit is soon getting an upgrade:
"Hippo Haven is getting an upgrade! This holiday season, Genny and Button will receive a fun NEW hippo enrichment, a sandpit! To ensure the safety of our girls and those working on this project Genny and Button will stay in their back-of-house home during construction"
